REVIEW PROCESS
Jury: The three-person panel is composed of noted industry professionals familiar with the broad spectrum of contemporary photography and receptive to a range of sensibilities and practices. Panelists are photographers, educators, curators, historians, and critics who reside outside of Minnesota. The panel's decisions are based primarily on the quality of the work submitted. Information provided in the fellowship plan, image descriptions, and resumè should clarify and reinforce excellence apparent in the photographs. Submissions must demonstrate the applicant's ability to transcend technical facility and create a unique, coherent, and compelling body of photographic work.
First Round: The jury panel will review submissions in the form of digital images viewed on a monitor for the first round. Their decisions will be tabulated and discussed, and those applicants receiving the greatest interest will be contacted and invited to submit work samples for first-hand consideration by the panel in the second round.
Finalist Round: Artists selected for second round will be asked to submit eight printed images, unframed, at no larger than 30 inches in the longest dimension. Each print will be treated with care and consideration, but each print will be handled several times throughout the day. Please keep this in mind when submitting your review prints. New for this year is that artists will be asked to present their work in person at a neutral site during the finalist round. Arrangements will be made with each finalist prior to the final review.
